About Me

Where do I start?
I have been a teacher all my life, have been a single mom (marriage annulled) for the past 20 years, retired from the classroom in 2005 and have free-lanced since then. At the moment I am offering classes in Professional Business Practice and Language & Communication at a tertiary institution.

Germany (born in Bremen) is my country of origin, Namibia was my childhood home, and now I am a Capetonian and have lived in Cape Town for the past 40 years.

I grew up in a Catholic home and have always seen our Church as my spiritual haven. God's love, mercy and compassion have carried me through very difficult times (marital, health and financial) and I am His child with complete conviction........ which does not prevent me from fretting, though - unfortunately!

I long for companionship with other sincere Catholics who have perhaps gone through serious trials in their own lives and would like to start a prayer group / friendly circle with me. Honest, thoughtful, humorous, caring and faith-based exchange would be much appreciated.

I love learning about people from different countries with different cultures, but I would also love to pick up contact with Catholics in or from Germany and converse with them in my mother tongue.

My Public Prayers

Dear Lord, I plead with you to bring peace and healing to Africa, especially to Zimbabwe. Please guide the leaders of Zimbabwe and South Africa. Open the minds of all who are in power and save us from evil laws such as the abortion laws.

Abraham had the courage to bargain with you by asking whether you would still save Sodom if there were 50 - 40 - 30 - 20 good people in the city. We have thousands and millions of people of goodwill in our country. Please accept our prayers and do not forsake us all because of the wickedness of others.

Amen

Dear God and Father, I too am
A child of Africa and lamb.
I see the poverty, I see
The rise of violence to be
The bane of those who love You true.
I ask Your blessing with the dew
On those who lead Zimbabwe and
South Africa, and give in hand
Both grace and the desire to stand
Beneath Your love and law and make
Their people happy for Your sake. Amen.
